It simply means that you have to follow different processes to set up Eero with Fios. These steps to set up Eero with Fios are explained in simple terms, so you can follow them up easily.

Setting up Eero with Verizon Fios

Verizon Fios provides two services for the Internet and those services are:

• Verizon Fios TV and Internet Service
• Verizon Fios Internet-only Service

For setting up the Eero mesh wifi system with Fios, you need to follow different processes for both of these services.

How to use Eero with Verizon Fios internet-only service?

If you are using Verizon Fios internet-only service then the good news is you can directly connect Eero with your optical network terminal (ONT). ONT can connect to your Eero gateway through a coax cable or an ethernet cable.

For setting up Eero with coax cable ONT, you can contact Verizon Fios Support and ask them to switch your coax cable ONT to ethernet.

If that’s not possible then you can put your Eero gateway router in bridge mode and connect it to Verizon Fios using an ethernet cable. I will cover it lately on how you can turn on bridge mode on your gateway Eero.

Setting up Eero with ethernet ONT is relatively easy and simple. There are four ways to set up Eero with ethernet ONT from Verizon.

1. If you have patience and can wait then turn off and disconnect the Verizon Fios router. After 2 hours, connect Eero to the ethernet cable and power it on. This will assign a new lease to your Eero gateway because a lease session usually ends in two hours.
2. Another way is to call Verizon Fios support and they will break the lease for you. This way you won’t have to wait to get assigned a new IP to your Eero gateway.
3. You can also use the Fios app to break the lease. Sign in to your Fios app then search and select the option “I can’t connect to the internet”. Follow in-app instructions to get a new lease.
4. The last way you can choose is by going to your router settings by signing in using the router’s IP address. Then navigate to Network > DHCP Server > DHCP Service. Select “release” for “Option60” and click apply. Disconnect your Fios router and the Eero gateway is ready to connect.

How to use Eero with Verizon Fios TV and internet service?

For using Verizon TV and internet services, it is required to have a Fios router connected. This means that you can connect your Eero gateway to Fios using an ethernet cable and you have to double NAT.

Double NAT means that you will face problems if you play games or need port forwarding and triggering. Double NATing will not impact you if you are a casual internet user.

So how to avoid Double NATing while setting up Eero with Fios? Let’s find out!

How to connect Eero to Fios without double NAT?

To avoid double NATing your home network, you have to enable bridge mode on your gateway Eero. This will turn off the routing ability of the gateway Eero and will save you from double NAT.

To enable bridge mode on your gateway Eero you can follow these simple steps:

• Open the Eero app on your smartphone.
• Navigate to Settings > Network Settings.
• Next, tap on the DHCP & NAT option.
• Now, select the bridge mode option or manual option if your network is running on the static IP.
• The final step is to tap Save in the top right corner of the app.
• And that’s it! You had successfully enabled bridge mode on your Gateway Eero.

Enabling bridge mode on gateway Eero will only disable the routing ability of gateway Eero, your remaining Eeros will keep providing wifi.
